Bean DNA Report

It is an exciting time for Bean family researchers!  The Bean DNA Project at
http://www.worldfamilies.net/surnames/b/bean/ is beginning to yield results that may help focus our research.

Three separate lineage groups have been established. In addition 7 single Bean DNA results have yet to be linked to any other Bean lineage.

The results below give the earliest known ancestor as given by the contributor of the DNA sample (or sponsor of the contributor).

Lineage I

These DNA contributors all seem share a common ancestor with one William Bean of Northumberland County, Virginia. Several of his children (but not all) are listed in the St. Stephen’s Parish records of Northumberland County.

Lineage II

This lineage shows that the following share a common ancestor. B-14 and B-17 both descend from William Bean who married Nancy Blevins. B-9 does not have a proven link to the others at this time. B-24 has not provided dates and lineage at this time. It had long been thought that the William Bean who married Nancy Blevins was somehow kin to the William Bean of Northumberland Co, VA, father of William Bean who married Lydia Russell and the Lt. John Bean/Been who is believed to have married Elizabeth Henderson. However, the DNA results indicate that the two lineages are not closely related after all.
